Federico is a PhD student enrolled in the Doctoral School of Chemistry and Material Science (DSCM) at the University of Pisa, supervised by Prof. Alessandra Operamolla and Prof. Jeannette J. Lucejko. He comes from an analytical chemistry background, with a special interest in cultural heritage. For his master’s thesis he worked on archaeological wood characterization with the SCIBEC group at the University of Pisa. His PhD work is in collaboration with Fedrigoni S.p.A., a paper company, and is focused on both the optimization of a method to obtain cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) from various pulps used in the paper industry and the fabrication of small electronical devices on paper substrates.
